Camp At Shilloi Lake

Shaped in the form of a giant human footprint, Shilloi Lake spreads over an area of 0.25-0.30 sq km in the south-eastern district of Phek in Nagaland. The winding road down to the lake from Washelo, through the slopes of the rocky hills presents a majestic sight. Shilloi Lake lies on the lower slopes of the hill ranges running along the Myanmar ridges.It is surrounded by tall, striking and attractive hills. There is an astonishing folklore associated with this lake. A prophecy in the form of a dream to its residents related with a girl child translates to a stern warning to the locals of never thinking of drying up the lake. Nobody has ever tried to search anything at the bottom of this lake in fear of that prophecy. The closest village from the lake is Lutsam and provides a means to stay and camp to enjoy the beauty of this lake.
