About Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial Hall was built in memory of Queen Victoria. The Victoria Memorial is located in the heart of Kolkata also known as Calcutta in West Bengal India. It is built by white marble and this white marble indicate the rightly be called the epitome of grace and dignity. The gardens are home to a multiple of sculpture. One of the greatest bronze statues of Queen Victoria on a bronze throne welcomes the visitor at the entry gate of the memorial. While a walk around the garden there are many statues like those of Edward VII, Curzon, Hastings, and Dalhousie. The gardens are presently maintained by 21 gardeners and gardens is spread over 64 acres.The Victoria Memorial has many galleries like the Royal Gallery, the National Leaders Gallery, the Sculpture Gallery etc. There is also a worthy collection of antique books.The monument is indeed a treasure trove of outstanding and noteworthy collections of paintings, weapons, textiles, artifacts, stamps, etc. Today the Victoria Memorial is counted as one of the best places to visit, not only in Kolkata but the entire country.
