Ghaziabad is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is sometimes referred to as the "Gateway of UP" because it is close to New Delhi, on the main route into Uttar Pradesh. It is a part of the National Capital Region of Delhi. The city has evolved as one of the most dynamic Industrial cities in the country. Ghaziabad takes a step towards triumph everyday, be it in the field of infrastructure, education or Industrial developments.
This planned industrial city gets its name from its founder, Ghazi-ud-din, the son of a Mughal minister who called it Ghaziuddinnagar after himself. The name was later shortened to Ghaziabad. Since the city is very rich in culture and heritage there are many fairs and festival attractions constantly being held. Most of these festivals are considered to be of Hindu origin. This city is possibly the fastest growing urban area in India.
