Allahabad is a city in Uttar Pradesh state, north India, it is one of the oldest cities in India. Apparently crowned in ancient scriptures as ‘prayag’, ‘prayagrai’ or ’teertharaj’. Allahabad is considered to be the holiest pilgrimage center in India. Allahabad is a place where you locate the Triveni Sangam; the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Sarswati River which highly considered to be the holy by Hindus. The famous agglomeration of saints far across India is held here in every 12 years at Allahabad; The Kumbh Mela, perchance the largest gatherings of pilgrimage on this earth.
Apart from its religious background, the city has witnessed many historical episode and important events in India’s freedom struggle such as the emergence of the firs Indian Nation congress in 1885, the beginning of Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violence movement in 1920.
Moreover, Allahabad is considered to be the judicial capital of Uttar Pradesh with Allahabad High Court being the highest Judicial Body in the state. Allahabad is the seventh most populous city in the state, twelfth in the Northern India and thirty-sixth in India. However, Allahabad is also considered to be as the third most live able city in the state after Noida and Lucknow and twenty-ninth in the country.
