About Ghoom Monastery

The Yiga Choeling Monastery, also known as Ghoom Monastery, is located at a distance of 7 kilometers from Lepchajagat. It was established in 1850. It is located on a hill top, at an altitude of 8000 feet. The monastery houses a 15 feet high statue of the Maitreya Buddhha. It is also famous for its ancient paintings. It commands a panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga.
