The town is named after the forests surrounding a lake located at its center. In Tamil “Yeri” means lake and “Kaadu” means forest. The name signifies Lake Forest. The Yercaud Lake, set against the backdrop of the hills of Eastern Ghats, is a breathtaking sight. The town has extensive coffee and fruit plantations.
