Most people traveling from Bangkok to Pattaya choose Bus. There are various luxury buses that leave from Eastern Bus Terminal every thirty minutes each day between 5:20 to 23:20. For someone near Southern Bus Terminal, buses leave at 5:30, 8:30, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and 18:30.
Similar priced buses are also available from Northern Bus Terminal between 5:30 to 20:00 hours. Bangkok to Pattaya is 150 kms and the trip usually takes 2 hours depending on the traffic which increases during weekends and public holidays. You can also opt for mini vans which would be quite expensive as compared to buses however the convenience would be incomparable as the pick up and drop would be directly from your hotel. Another door to door option could be hiring a private car which would cost you around B1000-B1500. But definitely a comfortable and chilled out experience.
If you are are on a budget trip and looking out to save few pennies on the travel expense, you can opt for train journey. A third class train which is quite comfortable, leaves Hualamphong station at 6:50 on weekdays and costs about 31 baht.

2. Bangkok to Pattaya from the International Airport
Suvarnabhumi International Airport is on the Pattaya side of Bangkok so it is a bit convenient and quicker to reach Pattaya. This also means the availability of taxis will be far more easier. Once you reach the exit of Suvarnabhumi International Airport you would be able to see various touts offering transport to pattaya in a mini-van or limousine.
Before boarding any of it, don’t forget to bargain as much as you can. However the official price of the metered taxi is 1050 baht plus 60 baht for expressway charges.
When you are traveling by taxi make sure that you have a check if it is properly licensed one.
Another trick to save money is to try and grab the taxi at the departure itself so that you can save the airport fee of around 50 baht.
There are various buses that leave from the airport every two hour and cost around 106 baht. It takes usually 1 ½ to 2 hours to reach Pattaya.
However if you are not too strict on budget, better arrive in style in Limousine. Book one in advance and make your trip a real classy one.
