A village in North sikkim, Lachen is the starting point of the interesting treks in North Sikkim. It is also the gateway to the Holy Dongmar and Tso Lhamu lakes. It is a journey of 129 kilometers from Gangtok.
Lachen means big pass. The base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar lake is formed by Lachen. Thangu, the annual lake event is held there in the summers. Lachen is connected to the Yunthang Valley by a short two day trekking route.
The Lachen Gompa can be visited and one can have a look at the simple village life of the Lachenpas. Lachen offers many panoramic views and stunning landscapes. It is a perfect destination to soak in the beauty of the hills, with the perfect view of the neatly sequenced alpine pastures. There are tranquil monasteries and waterfalls gushing down the scenic valleys. The fascinating adventure activities are a point of interest for the visitors too.

1 if u have breathing problems don't go.. if u Dont exercise at all and are obese Don't go... Reason? High altitude sickness
2 Dont use sharing taxi- lots and lots of fights for seats.. also uncomfortable

Roads were very bad and the share ride was not comfortable hotel was decent but in the name of breakfast only
