About Thangu Valley

Thangu Valley, located 30 kilometers from Lachen is the epitome of tranquility and serenity. It is covered with snow for most parts of the year because of its high altitude. The most beautiful aspect about the valley is the surrounding alpine meadows, flanked by the Teesta river and wooden houses. The valley offers a beautiful view.

The rivers of Teesta, Chopta, Thangu and Lassur flow through this Valley. The small village also known as Thangu is a usual halt spot for the tourists heading over to witness another attraction of Sikkim, the Gurudongmar lake.

One can go for short treks from the Thangu Valley to Chopta Valley, Green Lake and Muguthang. There are points for hiking.
