Valmiki Ashram is a famous religious site of the area and is arranged around 7 km far from the Valmiki National Park, close to the Nepal-India fringe. This Ashram is arranged on an elevated slope, on the bank of the Valmiki River. According to Hindu Mythology, Sita brought forth her two children Lava and Kush here in this ashram, after she was deserted by Lord Rama.
It is additionally said that Lord Rama, Sita and Laxman has gone through this Ashram on their approach to Chitrakoot. On fourteenth January consistently, Makar Sankranti is commended on a stupendous scale in this ashram.
