Spituk Monastery, also higher as Spituk Gompa or Pethup Gompa, is a Buddhist monastery in Leh district, Ladakh, northern India, 8 kilometers from Leh. The web page of Spituk was blessed via the Arhat Nyimagung. It became based via Od de, the elder brother of Lha Lama Changchub Od whilst he came to Maryul inside the 11th Century. He added the monastic community. When Lotsewa Rinchen Zangpo came to that area he said that an exemplary spiritual community might arise there and so the monastery turned into referred to as spituk.
During the time of Dharma raja Gragspa Bum-Ide the monastery become restored through Lama Lhawang Lodos and the immaculate order of Tsonkhapa changed into added and it has remained intact as such until gift. Founded as a Red Hat group, the monastery changed into taken over by way of the Yellow Hat sect inside the 15th century. The monastery includes 100 monks and a massive statue of Kali unveiled at some stage in the annual Spitok pageant.
