About Pangong lake
The pristine and blue colored lake Pangong lies somewhere between the Ladakh and Leh amidst the Himalayas. The lake stretches itself from Ladakh to Tibet and most it lies in Tibet. It covers an area of 12 km and is situated at a height of 4350m. due to the temperature falling to minus during winters this lake totally fets froze up.
The most strange thing about the lake is that the color of lake keeps changing to blue to green and sometimes even grey. Even though the lake is saline the falling temperature cannot keep it in liquid form.
Strangely the lake doesn’t support any kind of aquatic life apart from some ocean bugs. But this lake is home to many migratory birds who migrate during the summer season including seagulls and ducks. The beauty of this place is unmatched and every year tourists keep flooding the place. The only way of earning a livelihood is tourism out there.
