Situated in the Changtang wildlife sanctuary, this lake can be considered to be the twin sister of the Pangong lake. It covers an area of 28 km. The lake is surrounded by arid and barren mountains which covered with snow, the place will definitely give you the feeling of peace.
This lake is a destination for movie shooting and the tourist influx is also quite good. There are many stalls near the lake which will serve you Maggi and tea. The lake is also home to many migratory birds like the Brahmin duck, brown-headed seagull, bareheaded goose, etc. the month of Jan till march is the time when the lake remains frozen which also doesn’t people to stay near the lake.
The best time to visit the lake is during the month of April till September. Do not miss out the lake when you are planning to go to Ladakh.
