The Poonjar Palace is an ancient palace located on the banks of the Meenachil River. The palace is a glorious testimony to Kerala’s rich cultural history.
It is a majestic palace, bound by towering walls on all sides. It houses an extraordinary collection of antiques and old furniture which includes a palanquin, a droni or a treatment bed carved out of a single piece of wood for Ayurvedic massages, sculptures of Nataraja, huge chandeliers, and palm leaf engravings. Near the palace is a beautiful replica of the Madurai Meenakshi Temple. The temple walls are adorned with sculptures that tell stories from ancient India.
