About Butler Palace

The town of Lucknow is known for its records, background and its wealthy culture. The Mughals have left behind a legacy to cherish. But apart from the Mughals, the town of Lucknow has visible improvement of lesser regarded ancient monuments. One such monument which has historic importance in my humble opinion is the Butler Palace. The residential colony internal which the Butler Palace is situated gets its call from the palace itself. The basis stone became laid in 1915 through Raja Mehmoodabad. The palace become constructed for Deputy Commissioner of Avadh, Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, it served because the legitimate house of the Deputy Commissioner.

The original plan consisted of building three palaces but simplest one could be finished due to a flood in River Gomti in 1921. The Butler Palace is a 4 faceted palace with a lovely Rajasthani fashion architecture. It’s the most effective monument in Lucknow to be built in Rajasthani fashion. After independence, the palace served as guest residence for lots politicians and after some time it remained vacant till it changed into d enemy assets through the Government of India in 1965 after the India-Pakistan battle and became brought beneath the manipulate of Ministry of Commerce.
