This Massive fort which nestles in Agra was built solely for the militay purpose. This fort was built with red sandstone in the 16th century by King Akbar. It is said that many more fortifications were done by Shah Jahan. Spanning over 2.5km radius in circumference, this massive fort was destroyed by invaders like Marathas.
Even now some part of this fort is inaccessible to the public. Many areas of this fort are still used for military purpose. The man attraction in this fort is the pearl mosque, but this unfortunately not opened for public. There is a special area in the fort which was used for hearing petitions of the general public.
At one of the fort, you will find a hexagonal tower in which Shah Jahan was held captive by his own son. One can get a clear view of entire Taj Mahal from this tower very clearly. This is one of the best place s to visit in Agra. Make sure you do not miss this place at any cost.
when we entered this beautiful monument, we had no idea about this rich history.
we never imagined our guide - afshana, would make such an impact on us.
she approached us very calmly near the entrance and mentioned that she is willing to share just half of what the male guides were charging.
she showed us all the important places inside the fort and beautifully explained the history with amazing stories and facts.
she explained with such enthusiasm which made us more eager and excited to know mo
