About Basistha Ashram

Another sight to add grace to the land of temples, Basistha Ashram is believed to be the revered Saint Vasishta's domicile. The ashram is situated on the outskirts of Guwahati and is abode to unparallel peace and tranquility.The ashram holds a Shiva temple in its vicinity known as Basistha temple built on the bank of mountain stream originating from the hills of Meghalaya. The gushing river around the temple and ashram turns the place into paradise and to add to the charm of the place is a waterfall and a cave where Saint Vasishtha meditated. Like any other temple of Indai, this place also lends you the company of horde of monkeys on the river bank and the temple premises.

There is no entry fee and one can visit the place between 7 A.M. to 9 P.M. on any day of the week.
