About Castle of Angers

The Castle of Angers is a palace in the city of Angers in the Loire Valley, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, in France. Established in the 9th century by the Counts of Anjou, it was extended to its present size in the 13th century. It is found overhanging the stream Maine. It is a recorded authentic landmark since 1875. Now open to people in general, the Chateau d'Angers is home of the Apocalypse Tapestry. The chateau kept on being utilized as an ordnance through the First and Second World Wars. It was seriously harmed amid World War II by the Nazis when an ammo stockpiling dump inside the palace detonated.

The chateau covers a region of 20,000 square meters. Two sets of towers structure the city and landward passageways of the chateau. Every one of the towers was once 40 meters 130 ft in stature, however they were later chopped down for the utilization of cannons pieces. The Tour du Moulin is the main pinnacle which moderates the first rise. Today, claimed by the City of Angers, the enormous, severe stronghold has been changed over to an exhibition hall lodging the most seasoned and biggest accumulation of medieval embroidered works of art on the planet, with the 14th century "End of the world Tapestry" as one of its precious fortunes. As a tribute to its grit, the palace has never been taken by any attacking power ever.
