About Pilica River Skansen

The open-air museum of Pilica river is the first heritage park in Poland dedicated to a river. It is located close to the Pilica river within the town of Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Lodz Voivodeship. It was created in 2000. It is placed subsequent to the Blue Springs nature reserve. The concept of making the Pilica open-air museum was first mooted over 20 years in the past. The individual at the back of the creation of the museum changed into its modern-day director Andrzej Kobalczyk. He was once the leader editor of a monthly mag "Piotrkow Cultural Guide" which posted materials approximately this vicinity of the country.

Soon the editorial body of workers of the mag started out to reveal hobby inside the Pilica river and the cultural space connected with it. This caused the advent of the "Association of the Pilica's Friends" in 1997. The essential reason of the association was to shield the natural surroundings of the river and to spread understanding about the area. The association performed a role in forming the open-air museum a few years later. Over the years, reveals relating to the Pilica river had been gathered, with the aim of founding the museum. This covered the extraction of German motors left over from World War II.
