Detka Canal Museum

The "Detka" Canal Museum was set up in 2008 and is the most youthful branch of the Lodz City Museum. It uncovers until now obscure realities from the historical backdrop of the city. Since from one perspective, nobody has seen the underground almost 4 thousand kilometers of waterworks and trenches. On the other hand, scarcely anybody thinks about the force and energy with which in the 1930s this underground maze was fabricated.

The Museum of the Canal is situated under Wolno Square, in a memorable oval water tank, worked in 1926 with a view to washing the sewage framework in the downtown area. As one of the main areas of the city's sewage framework, it was outlined by British architect William Heerlein Lindley.
