Turuvekere is a panchayat town and Taluk in Tumkur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Turuvekere was at one time an "Agrahara' or 'Lease Free Village' conceded to academic Brahmins in the thirteenth century A.D. Turuvekere is home to ious Hoysala sanctuaries, including the Temple of Chennakeshava Temple worked by Mahadandanayaka Somanna, the Gangadhareshwara Temple, Chennigaraya Swamy Temple, Moole Shankareshwara Temple, and the biggest, Beterayaswamy Temple.
