Situated atop a hillock is the Thibhaw palace and point, another major attraction in Ratnagiri. There is a sunset point there, from where one can have get a panoramic view of the Someshwar Creek, Bhatye Bridge, Pawas and Arabian Sea. This palace kept the King Thibhaw, the last king of Burma who ruled for 6 years under house arrest.
The Thibhaw palace is an architectural marvel. The three storied structure with sloping roofs, the semi circular wooden windows with beautiful carvings are the major attractions of the palace. There is a dancing hall with fully marble tiles floor. One can visit the palace to have a knowledge about its majesty and for the enchanting panoramic views from the view point.
