About Kurisumala Ashram

Kurisumala Ashram is situated at a distance of 2 kms away from Vagamon. It is a beautiful Christian monastery located at the heart of the Sahya mountain ranges. Kurisu means ‘cross’ in Malyalam. This was built long ago by the Christian missionaries and continues to be a spiritual abode for monks today who choose to live a life of austerity.

A visit to Kurisumala Ashram is a must for tourists visiting Vagamon. This is very popular particularly with Christian pilgrims but people across religions also flock to the ashram throughout the year. This is a peaceful place, situated away from the urban landscape. The area is surrounded by tea estates and lakes. The hills are also perfect for trekking and mountain climbing.
