Skirting the town of Kottayam, are the picturesque valleys of Elaveezhapoonchira. It is a quaint little hill station located amidst the three hillocks of Mankunnu, Thonippara and Kudayathoormala. One of the most scenic destinations in town, it is a popular picnic spot for tourists.
The valley looks etheral during monsoon as it fills up with water to form a lake. Elaveezhapoonchira means ‘valley where leaves don’t fall’. This name fits the place as it spreads across acres of barren land where no tress grow. This is a brilliant spot to enjoy a sunrise or a sunset.
