About Gandhamadhana Parvatham

Located in the north western part of Rameswaram, the Gandhamadhana Parvatham is famous as a sunset and sunrise viewpoint. It is believed that Lord Rama's footprints exist there and pilgrims from all over the country visit this holy place to see and worship them.

On this hillock which is the highest point of the island stands the double storied Mandapam of the Ramjharoka Temple, where the footprints of Lord Rama is found on the Chakra. The devotees of Lord Rama make it a point to visit this place and the temple.

On the way to Gandhamadhana Parvatham, one can visit the Sugreevar temple and Theertham. The entire island of Rameswaram can be viewed from the hilltop. It is situated about 3 kms from the Ramanathaswamy Temple.
