Out of the many lakes in Nagpur, the Futala lake is spread over 60 acres and is one of the beautiful and historic lakes. It was built by the Bhonsle kings of Nagpur. The major attraction of the lake is its colourful fountains. Every evening, the place is illuminated by halogen lights and carriage (Tanga) ride. The lake is surrounded by gush greenary of the forest and a landscaped Chowpatty on one side.
One of the most attractive spots in the Nagpur city, the Futala lake witnesses an average of 1000 visitors a day. The Ghat steps, sand beach paving on platform, Nana-nani park are the spots to hang out. Some work is yet to be done on them. Futala lake has a heavy growth of hyacinth, water lily, hydra, wolfram and algae due to excessive nutrient growth.
