The Chittor Fort or Chittorgarh is one of the largest forts in India. The fort lies under the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort was the capital of Mewar. The fort of Chittor is regarded as one of the most outstanding forts of the country and is indeed the "Pride of Rajasthan State". According to legends, it is believed that the fort was built by the Mauryans in 7th century and further structures were added to it by the successive Mewar rulers.
The fort is approached through seven huge gateways which are guarded by watch tower and huge doors. The two major attractions of the fort are the towers Vijay Stambh and Kirti Stambh. Vijay Stambh, the tower of victory and the Kirti Stambh, tower of fame. The towers are illuminated in the evening and it looks even more beautiful. Apart from the towers, there are many palaces and temples within the premises of the fort. The place is a must view to get acknowledge with such brilliancy.
