A Museum of Regional Prehistory

The museum hall is situated in a favored domain, close to the Paleolithic destinations of Beauregard in Nemours, Pincevent close Montereau-Fault-Yonne and every single real site found by the archeological checking of the Bassee rock pits. It is situated on the edge of the Nemours-Poligny backwoods which is itself a southern augmentation of the woods of Fontainebleau, acclaimed for its blockfields. The structure is in the core of a brilliant lush park of five hectares dissipated with sandstone rocks, commanded by pines, oaks and dark insect trees. Finished in 1980, the unpleasant cement and glass development is crafted by draftsman and urban organizer Roland Simounet.

The harsh solid surface, the recreation center's sandstone hinders, the vast coated exteriors and the yards that are reminiscent of the verdure of the major ordered periods, make a lasting exchange among nature and the design. This historical center is viewed as the planner's most cultivated work. The structure is a recorded noteworthy landmark since October 2002 and furthermore has the "20th century legacy" mark; it is the main structure in Seine-et-Marne to have been granted this status by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

Visitors have a choice of two tours :

• The main visit rooms 1 to 7 chronologically covers the general features of regional prehistory,
• The advanced circuit numbered b has four additional rooms that complete the main circuit.
