Lyon Cathedral

The house of God was established by Saint Pothinus and Saint Irenaeus, the initial two clerics of Lyon. The basilica is otherwise called a "Primatiale" in light of the fact that in 1079 the Pope allowed to the ecclesiastical overseer of Lyon the title of Primate of All the Gauls with the legitimate matchless quality over the key diocese supervisors of the kingdom.

It is situated in the core of the old town Vieux Lyon, under five minutes from the banks of the Saône waterway, with an expansive square before it and a metro stop close-by giving simple access to and from the city center. Begun in 1180 on the remains of a sixth century church, it was finished in 1476.
