About Musee Bossuet

The Musee Bossuet is the workmanship and history exhibition hall of the town of Meaux, France. Arranged in the old episcopal castle, it takes its name from the well known speaker and scholar Jacques-Benigne Bossuet, Bishop of Meaux from 1681 to 1704. The episcopal royal residence houses accumulations of compositions and figures, just as things of neighborhood history.

The accumulations have extended gratitude to the heritage of the scientist and authority Henri Moissan in 1914 and, all the more as of late, on account of the gift of neuro-scholar Jean-Pierre Changeux. He improved the gallery with forty works, of which the last entered the accumulation in 2006. Diverse schools of painting are appeared from the 16th to the 20th century.

  • The 19th century is spoken to via scenes from the Barbizon school and a fine accumulation of depictions of the orientalists.
  • Figures incorporate some by unknown medieval specialists and works by craftsmen, for example, Edme Bouchardon and Louis-Ernest Barrias from the 19th century.
