It is the largest mosque in India which can accommodate around 25000 devotees at once for prayer. It is ranked as the most popular and famous site for Muslims in India It was constructed by Shah Jahan, the Mughal Emperor in 1644

2. Taj-ul-Masjid

Its name means the Crowd of all Mosques. It is one of the tallest mosques in Asia. It was built by Nawab Shah Jahan Begum in 1844-1860. The final touch to this mosque was given in 1985. There are marble domes in the mosque.

It was built by fourth Nawab of Awadh for a Noble Cause. It is considered as India’s largest unsupported structure. It is known for its stunning architecture This site was started in 1784 and was completed in 1798.

Jama Masjid was built for Jahana who was the daughter of Shah Jahan. It is a grand historical monument which was built in 1648. This mosque can accommodate around 10000 people easily at one time.

It is a Sanskrit college which is turned into a mosque. It was converted in the year 1198. The front wall is beautiful which has arches made of yellow limestone. The designs of this mosque are quite similar to Persian mosques.

Hazratbal Masjid is a holy Islamic shrine on the left bank of the Dal Lake. Being 154m in length and 25 m in height, this pristine white structure consists of one dome and one minaret. The shrine consists of a holy relic called the Moi-e-Muqqadas which is believed that it has the hair strand of Prophet Muhammad.

9. Jamia Masjid

It was built in 1400 AD by Sultan Sikandar. This mosque is designed in beautiful Indo-Saracenic architecture. The Masjid comprises of a beautiful courtyard and 370 wooden pillars. This spacious holy site can accommodate around 30,000 at once.

10. Makkah Masjid

Makkah Masjid or Mecca Masjid is situated near to the historic landmarks of Chowmahalla Palace, Laad Bazaar. It is one of the oldest mosques in India and was built by the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The main prayer hall of this mosque rises around 75 feet above the ground and can accommodate around 10,000 people at once.
