Pori Jazz
About Pori Jazz
Pori Jazz is a major event in the world's oldest jazz festivals, and the program serves international and Finnish top names. The unique atmosphere, a high-quality and versatile program, good services and a beautiful setting attract around 400,000 visitors each year to the festival. Children have their own Pori Jazz Kids Festival. Pori Jazz is a pioneer of the Finnish festival season. In the summer of 1966, a group of young jazz bites blew up on the lawn of Kirurinloda and swinged to jazz. From the passion to music, Pori's jazz festival was born.
Pori Jazz has evolved over time. Organized every July, the festival offers a diverse and high-quality cross-section of today's music streams from around the world. The Pori Jazz concept has been at the forefront of the festival for almost 50 years: well-known and upcoming music stars, a unique festival milieu, the beaches of Kokemaenjoki, the lush Kirurinloda concert park and jazz clubs make up the festival's deserving setting. The festival's mission is to support the promotion and spread of jazz music. The goal is to produce an artistic high-quality rhythm music festival that will create unique experiences and unique ambitions for its visitors and creators to experience from year to year. The festival is organized by Pori Jazz 66, a non-profit community of general interest. About 70 percent of the festival's program is free to the public.
