Lieksa Brass Week
About Lieksa Brass Week
The ultimate meeting place for copper music is found in Lieksa, which is home to a large number of international and domestic brass artists. There is a diverse range of concerts, courses for brass players and an international music contest. In addition, the festival offers a host of events, free concerts, yoga and children's events. An international trombone competition will also be held in . Lieksa's Copper Week has already begun in 1980 by music councilor Erkki Eskelinen, inspired by the City of Lieksa Tourism and the Idea Competition organized by the Lieksa magazine. Copper music was close to the trumpetist Eskel, especially through the Lieksa Youth Fan Orchestra, so with the help of the Copper Week we also wanted to bring international masterclass expertise to Lieksa. Copper Week's main teaching instruments are trumpet, horn, trombone, tube and eufonium.
The artistic director, executive director and office manager are responsible for the design and implementation of the copper week together with the board of the support association. During the festival, additional workforce is hired and local volunteering for volunteers is very important for the successful implementation of the week.
