About Lake ontario

It is the last of the chain of Great Lakes that straddle the Canada/United States border. Lake Ontario’s name comes from the Iroquoian language and means “lake of shining waters.” The Niagara River is the main feeder of the lake; others include the Genesee, Oswego, and Black rivers from the south and the Trent River from the north.

There are over 100 beaches on Lake Ontario. Lake Ontario is host to a number of migratory birds. Swans, loons, ducks, geese, grebes and other water fowl are among the wildlife that inhabit Lake Ontario
