The historical society

The general public was fused as a non-benefit association December 29, 1921, to acquire the site of the principal exchange house worked in 1627, by Plymouth Colony, situated on the south bank of the Manomet Monument River, which is presently part of the Cape Cod Canal. The Pilgrims exchanged with the Natives and the Dutch from New Amsterdam New York City, in this way having a wellspring of pay by which their obligation to the London patrons of their endeavor to the New World could be reimbursed.

To fortify intrigue, a chronicled show was held and gifts were gotten, empowering the Society to buy the part of arrive on which two basement openings were found, denoting the site of the exchange house. In 1926, President Percival Lombard and Vice President Nathan Bourne Hartford revealed the total establishments and numerous fascinating relics. Extra parcels were obtained, bringing the aggregate to around 12 sections of land. The structure existing today is an imitation raised on the first establishment.
