Cuttyhunk Island has been a prevalent site for huge striped bass. It is the peripheral of the Elizabeth Islands in Massachusetts. A little station for the collecting of sassafras was involved for fourteen days in 1602, apparently making it the principal English settlement in New England. Cuttyhunk is well popular among tourisits; it is situated between Buzzards Bay toward the north and Vineyard Sound toward the south. Penikese Island and Nashawena Island are situated toward the north and east separately.
The island has a land territory of 580 sections of land 0.91 sq mi; 2.3 km2, and a populace of 52 people as of the 2000 statistics. It is the fourth biggest in zone of the Elizabeth Islands and home to the town of Cuttyhunk. It lies completely inside the town of Gosnold.
