About Ponder the futility of war at the Soviet War Memorial

Wander into Treptower Park to investigate the huge Soviet War Memorial which recognizes the 5000 Soviet troopers who kicked the bucket in the last Battle of Berlin. Outlined by Soviet engineer Yakov Bolopolsky, it joins a statue of Mother Russia, a red marble entranceway flanked by bowing troopers and a 13m tall statue of a Soviet officer holding a tyke. The Tiergarten dedication was developed on the requests of the Red Army soon after the finish of World War II. It was the principal Soviet remembrance in Berlin and was placed up in the core of the city, not a long way from Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag building. It was authoritatively committed as of now on 11 November 1945. The plan was finished by the stone workers Lev E. Kerbel and Vladimir E. Zigal and the draftsman Nikolai W. Sergievski.
