A beautiful and ancient church, in all likelihood the oldest constructing in Buxton. Its ornate indoors is a superb testimony to its Anglo-Catholic conventional past. Its origins are unsure – there may be a date of 1625 carved at the church porch, but parts of the constructing are older. John Wesley is said to have preached inside the church whilst on a visit to Buxton. When the parish church of St John the Baptist become built in Buxton in 1811, St Anne’s changed into transformed to a college, then later a Sunday School, a mortuary chapel, after which closed. In 1885 the church changed into restored for divine carrier and re-committed to St Anne.
On a Sunday, a quiet service of Holy Communion from the Book of Common Prayer is said at 8 am.
