About Spa Valley Railway

The Spa Valley Railway is a widespread gauge history railway that runs from Tunbridge Wells West railway station in Tunbridge Wells to High Rocks, Groombridge and Eridge, wherein it hyperlinks with the Oxted Line. En-direction it crosses the Kent and East Sussex border, a distance of 5 miles, alongside the previous Wealden Line among Tunbridge Wells Central and Lewes. The railway headquarters is at Tunbridge Wells West railway station. As the popularity of the motor vehicle extended, educate services were severely reduce again due to the shortage of patronage, and the quantity of services passing through Tunbridge Wells West declined as one line after another turned into closed from the Fifties onwards.

First, the East Grinstead to Lewes line closed in 1958, then the Cuckoo Line in 1965, the Three Bridges to Groombridge in 1967, and in the end the Wealden Line south of Uckfield in 1969. The line among Tunbridge Wells and Eridge changed into itself indexed for closure in 1966, handiest to be in the end reprieved. The line remained open, even though in its latter years passenger offerings had been particularly constrained to a travel provider between Tonbridge and Eridge with some through trains to Uckfield; but there was a depot at Tunbridge Wells West which housed rolling stock for services at the Uckfield and East Grinstead - London lines, and there have been numerous empty stock moves early and overdue in the day.
