About Newburn
Newburn is a semi country area, discretionary ward and previous urban region in western Newcastle Upon Tyne, North East England. Arranged on the North bank of the River Tyne, it is developed rising the valley from the stream. It is arranged around 5 miles from the downtown area, 14 miles east of Hexham and 13 miles south west of Morpeth. In the 2001 registration, the populace was given as 9,301, increasing to 9,536 at the 2011 Census. Newburn is in the Newcastle upon Tyne area of Tyne and Wear and is a piece of the parliamentary voting demographic of Newcastle upon Tyne North.
Truly, the territory was bigger than Newcastle upon Tyne as it was the most eastern fordable purpose of the River Tyne. The zone has Roman remains, and a Norman church dating from 1070 AD. In 1640, the Battle of Newburn occurred. The region developed with the Industrial Revolution with the revelation of coal, and in 1822 Spencer's Steelworks was opened, which developed to a size which drove the zone to be referred to informally as New Sheffield, after the town renowned for its steel making ability.
