Alexandria is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The town is arranged on the Stream Leven, four miles 6 km north-west of Dumbarton. In 2001, the number of inhabitants in the town was 13,444. It is the biggest town in the Vale of Leven, the others being Balloch, Bonhill, Jamestown and Renton; their joined populace is more than 20,000. The town is home to Vale of Leven football club, who play at Millburn Stop.
The club was a predominant power in early Scottish football history, winning the Scottish Glass in 1877, 1878 and 1879, and was originator individuals from the Scottish Football Alliance.
The town's conventional enterprises, above all cotton producing, dying and printing, have been eliminated. The town was redeveloped in the 1970s with another town focus design and activity framework.
