About Poltava Art Museum
Poltava Art Museum is a public art gallery in Poltava, Ukraine which incorporates many works of local and overseas artwork and a wealthy ethnographic series. Today’s collection of the museum turned into started out in 1917, when Nikolai Yaroshenko, a painter who belonged to the Association of Itinerants donated his artwork series to his native metropolis. As well as one hundred art work and 23 sketchbooks created through Yaroshenko himself, his series blanketed works via his pals and colleagues who took part within the Itinerant Art Exhibitions Ivan Shishkin, Vasily Polenov, Vladimir Makovsky, Ilya Repin, Vasily Maksimov and others.
The Museum became opened to the general public on April 27, 1919. Originally it became officially an art gallery not a real museum. Its founder Mikhail Rudynsky, who later became a famous Ukrainian archaeologist and musicologist, called it the Museum of Arts. It turned into determined to set up a city museum after Poltava location’s Historic and Artistic Monuments Protection Committee turned into created in the city. In a 12 months and a half the museum have become an art branch of the prevailing Local History Museum.
