About International Mountain Museum

Dedicated to the history of mountaineering, The International Mountaineering Museum in Pokhara is one of the best of its kind. The museum will tell you all you have ever wanted to know about the Himalayas.

The museum traces the history of mountains and mountaineering. It contains information on the kind of people who live in the Himalayas, its unique flora and fauna, the inception of mountaineering in the Himalayan ranges and its unique structure. It traces the cultural values of the mountain people and the geological mysteries buried underneath. The museum has been divided into three main exhibition halls: Hall of Great Himalayas, Hall of Fame and Hall of World Mountains. It attempts to represent the culture and history of the Nepalese people as well.
