The Shanti Stupa in Pokhara is the first World Peace Pagoda in Nepal. It was built in the Buddhist-pagoda style. Located on a hilltop in Ananda Hill, the Stupa gives a splendid view of the Annapurna Range.
The Shanti Stupa was built by monk Morioka Sonin and the local people of Pokhara. Today it stands not only as a symbol of peace but a popular tourist attraction. The Stupa offers a panoramic view of the Annapurna range, Pokhara city and the Phewa Lake. The sunrise and sunsets appear magnificent from the hilltop. There are hiking and cycling trails to the Stupa. One of the most popular hiking trails pass through the Phewa Lake.
