One of the largest stupas in the world, Boudhanath Stupa was d a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1979. It rises to a height of around 131m. The first thing that you will notice about the stupa are the red, white and blue colored eyes on all four sides, which are believed to see everything. Many Buddhist Monasteries have come up around the Boudhanath Stupa in the 500 years that it has been here. During the many Buddhist festivals like Tibetan New Year, it sees a huge influx of Buddhist pilgrims from Nepal as well as neighboring countries.
