Vellayani Lake

This picturesque lake is situated just 7 km away from Kovalam. This lake is a freshwater lake, providing a home to a iety of flora and fauna. It is also one of the  Photo enthusiasts will find this place extremely interesting.

The lake seasonally also grows lotus and offers you to take a boat ride to enjoy the view. The lake also provides an opportunity for fishing and picnic. This the lake where the annual boat race of Kerala takes place. It is organized during the festival of Onam.

There is one popular story behind the lake that once a beggar who was looking for water met a saint and that saint turned a single drop of water into Vellayani lake.
