About Sri Vaikuntanatha Perumal Temple - Srivaikuntam
Sri Vaikuntanatha Perumal Temple is an old temple arranged at Srivaikuntam in Thoothukudi region of Tamilnadu. Situated on the banks of the waterway Thamirabarani, this is one of the 108 divya desams of Lord Vishnu and the first of the Navatirupathis. Likewise called Srivaikuntam Temple and Kallapiran Temple, Sri Vaikuntanatha Perumal Temple is committed to Lord Vishnu as Vaikuntanathar.
It is trusted that this temple was utilized as a fortification in the battle between the unbelievable flexibility warrior Veerapandiya Kattabomman and the British in the 1800s. The temple is delegated a Navatirupathi, the nine temples venerated by Nammazhwar situated on the banks of Thamirabarani River. This is the first in the arrangement of these nine Tirupathi Temples.
