About Royal Enclosure

The royal enclosure in Hampi was the Vijayanagara state’s seat of strength. In its top, it housed as many as 45 homes together with the durbar halls, platform, tanks, underground chambers, and temples. There are three entrances to the Royal Enclosure; two within the north and one within the west. The architectural style of this enclosure is symbolic of the Vijayanagara fashion of structure with strains of Mughal impact. As with all of the other features constructed through the Vijayanagara kings, the Royal Enclosure makes sufficient use of granite and soapstone.

All the palaces face the east or the north and were constructed on raised granite structures. These platforms function multiple ranges and are adorned with carved details of vegetation, ducks, demon faces, elephants and human figures. Though the palaces themselves won't stand these days, ask recovered from the website online suggests that they used wood beams and rafters. Domed structures had been constructed with a stone rubble and mortar combination.
