About Ralong Monastery

Ralong Monastery is an old but fascinating monastery in Namchi. Located at a distance of 8 km in the close proximity of the Palchen Choeling Monastic Institute, this monastery looks beautiful with the backdrop of the traditional Bhutia houses and the lush green forests.

The monastery was built to revere the fourth Chogyal's triumphant pilgrimage to Tibet. When he returned, the Karmapa performed the blessing and the grain thrown by him from the Tsurphu monastery in Tibet fell to the ground of Ralong and the devotees witnessed it. It hence became the site for the Ralong Monastery.
