About Panagal Park

Panagal Park is a park and a locality in T Nagar, Chennai. The park is named after the Raja of Panagal, the Chief Minister of Madras Presidency who created the park. It is an crucial junction and is the industrial centre of T Nagar. When the Long Lake at the western peripheral vicinity of the vintage town was tired out and the area of T. Nagar become newly carved out of the prevailing community of Mambalam in 1923, a park changed into developed within the centre of the new locality meant to be a residential one.

The park became named Panagal Park honouring the then Chief Minister of Madras, the Raja of Panagal.In the early days, there has been a public radio in the park to cater the visitors who amassed there to pay attention to song and information and stayed till the remaining news broadcast at 7.15 p.m. The architect of Panagal Park changed into Ganesh Iyer.
